Friday’s Letter

Dear Liam and Francesca,

Tomorrow’s the weekend. Hope you’ve got something great planned. The weather’s not too good here at the moment. Hope it’s better where you are.

We’ve just got soaked as we decided to put some turf in on the front. The men who laid the new pavement had left the lawn in a bit of a mess so at about 7 o’clock we went round to Homebase to buy some turf. When we got back we started straightaway to level the garden and put it in. It started to rain just as we started but we’d decided that we were going to get it done tonight. It was quite dark by the time we finished and it was really pouring with rain. We were both dripping wet! But we got it done!

Tomorrow, we’ll have to go and get one more turf as there wasn’t quite enough. It’s not too big a job though.

Off to bed now, just about dried out! Hope you are both asleep by now,
Talk to you tomorrow,
Night, night,
Love Grandma and Grandad xxxx

Thursday’s Letter

Dear Francesca and Liam,

Hope that you had a good day today at school and nursery.

Today, Grandma went to fetch Thomas from school and played with him for a while. She was very surprised that there was not a lot of traffic on the way home and she had time to come home before going off to her tai chi class. It’s quite difficult to work out how much time to allow to pick Thomas up as sometimes it can take her over an hour to get there and sometimes just half an hour.

We’re off to bed now so, sleep tight and we’ll talk to you tomorrow,
Love Grandma and Grandad xxxx

Wednesday’s Letter

Dear Liam and Francesca,

Hope you enjoyed your Mummy’s birthday today and that she had a good time. We were thinking of you all.

Today, I took my straight soprano sax back to the shop. You know that I’d only been renting it. I was a bit sad to see it go as it was the first one which I managed to play. I’ve now got to get stuck in to playing the other one. Perhaps one day I’ll be able to play it in the Trans-Siberian March Band and, perhaps, one day you’ll be able to come and see us play.

I’m off to bed now as I have to be up early in the morning so, sleep tight,
Have lovely dreams and we’ll talk tomorrow,
All our love,
Grandma and Grandad xxxx

Tuesday’s Letter

Dear Francesca and Liam,

Tonight is a late letter. It’s been another busy day today as the carpet fitters came and put in the carpet for the stairs and the bedroom. The new carpet goes right up to the loft and the place where you used to make your camp, Francesca, that’s been done. It’s all finished now but all the furniture is all over the place!

Today, I put up a nesting box in the path behind our garden but when Grandma looked on the internet, she found that it was really a bit late to get any birds in it now. Who knows, there might be some late ones.

I hope that you’re both tucked up now, we’ll say, night, night and,
talk to you tomorrow,
Lots and lots of love, from,
Grandma and Grandad xxxx

Monday’s Letter

Hi there, Liam and Francesca,

I’m just back from rehearsal and feeling really tired. I had a meeting downtown today about the work I’m doing for Middlesex University so that was quite tiring.

Before that we were emptying the drawers under our bed as the carpet people are coming tomorrow to fit the carpet in the bedroom and the stairs. I guess it will be a hectic day. We’re off to bed, then so, sleep tight you two and have really happy dreams about tomorrow,
Night, night,

Grandma and Grandad xxxx

Sunday’s Letter

Hello there, Francesca and Liam,

Hope you’ve had a great weekend and are looking forward to next week.

I’ve just finished working with Thomas on his web site and he’s gone to bed. We’ve put something on about numbers and a bit about Leyton Orient. Did you know that he supports Leyton Orient, along wfith his Dad. They both go along when they’re playing at home. This week they were away. You can see Thomas’s site from the link on the left.

We also put a picture of Wembley Stadium on his site. Do you remember driving around that, Francesca when they were building it? You said that you’d like to see a match there. P’raps one day you and Liam can go with Uncle Joachim and Thomas, eh? I’m sure they’d love that.

You know that I always miss you but today was one of those days when I really missed you both. Really, really. Still p’raps one day, we can be together again, here’s hoping,

Sleep tight my loved ones, I’ll dream of you again tonight, hope you have sweet dreams, all our love,
Grandma and Grandad xxxx

Saturday’s Letter

Dear Liam and Francesca,

Tonight, it’s quite late when I write. That’s because I’ve been out today in a studio with the Trans-Siberian March Band. We’ve been recording some more tunes for our CD. It was quite a tiring experience but it was good fun.

We couldn’t get the big studio today so we had to work in a quite small one and use two other rooms as well. The two clarinets were in one room and Fotis on the Doub in another one. We couldn’t see each other but we had earphones on so that we could hear what was going on.

We’ve now got enough to make a whole CD so we’re hoping to have it ready in the next month or so. That should be exciting to get our very own CD!

I’m off to bed, now, Grandma’s already fast asleep, so,
Night night,
Dream a little dream fro me, will you,
We love you lots and lots and lots.

Friday’s Letter

Dear Francesca and Liam,

It’s been a lovely day here. Hope it’s been as good where you are. I keep having a look at the lawn but nothing’s started growing yet. Goodness, don’t you have an impatient Grandad! I do keep watering it so, with the warm weather, it should start growing before too long.

I’ve been going through my novel today, giving it a final edit, just in case an agent asks me for a copy. We can only hope, can’t we!

Well, it’s the weekend now so hope you’ve got something great planned for the next couple of days, at least the weather should be good for whatever you’re doing. Hope that Ed the Ted is still happy.

Dream about your weekend and have sweet dreams,
Night, night,

grandma and Grandad xxxx

Thursday’s Letter

Dear Liam and Francesca,

I’m sitting here trying to imagine you two tucked up in bed and dreaming away. I can’t imagine what your surroundings look like but I can imagine you two. I know you’ll have changed since we last saw you but I can still see you in my mind’s eye.

I’ve had a busy day today and I’m really quite tired. I went to a meeting at the Royal Academy of Engineering and then got taken to lunch at the Royal Society, next door. It was really quite an experience to see how one part of our society lives. It was very flash!

This afternoon, I levelled up the front lawn and put in the grass seed. I hope that the birds don’t eat it all. i wonder what it will be like when you come here again. I would like to think that it might not be too long but, who knows.

Ah well, keep sleeping tight and have really, really nice dreams,
We’ll write tomorrow,
Night, night,
Love,
grandma and Grandad xxxx

Wednesday’s Letter

Hello, Francesca and Liam,

How are you today. Hope you’re both well. It’s a late letter today as I’m just back from the band. Hope you’ve both had a good day today.

I’ve been working on the front lawn this afternoon. I’ve had to tidy it up because they dug it up a bit when they put in the new pavement. The trouble is that they filled the hole in with really horrible soil. It had lots of rubbish in it. It’s taken me ages to clean it all up. It’s looking quite reasonable now and tomorrow I’m going to put in some grass seed. I’m quite tired tonight from all the bending so I’m off to bed now.

Have sweet dreams, my dears,
We love you lots and lots and lots,
Night, night,
Grandma and Grandad xxxx
